I'LL ADDING MORE BUT RN I'M SO TIREDDDDD PLEASE LET ME HAVE ANOTHER WEEK OFF SCHOOL I'M BEGGING YOU

HOST

"NO AVA PLEASE DON'T-

THAT'S MY ONLY HAT PLEASE LEAVE IT ALONE"

Name: Ayden Matthis

Nickname(s): None

Gender: Male

Age: 12

Birthday: August 4

House : Pheonix

Rank: Scout (but he aims to be a Doctor one day)

Level: 1

Personality:

  • conversational - on an artificial level, at least. Delivering mail with his father, Ayden learned how to make small talk, but once anybody asks anything remotely personal, he'll divert the conversation and try to leave. Anything aside from small talk will get awkward, fast.
  • impatient - he doesn't always like to listen to the boring conversations his father would have with people while delivering mail, so he would sometimes go off on his own to deliver things.
  • impulsive - not much of a thinker, Ayden rarely give things a second thought once he's decided on a course of action
  • outgoing, likes to explore - one reason he enjoyed working with his father was because it gave him an excuse to run around and explore the neighborhood and further. One day he would like to explore the entire city and further, so he would never get lost again
  • somewhat of an introvert - as much as Ayden converses with others and runs around, all he want at the end of the day are few hours alone with no one bothering him. He doesn't always get alonge time though, and as a result, gets a bit grumpy the following day
  • solitary - even if he can hold a conversation and get along with people, Ayden prefers to do things alone. It's not because he thinks he can do things better on his own, he just likes peace and quiet
  • serious - not very humorous kid and Ava thinks it makes him fun to tease and does so rather frequently

Likes:

  • "being in the know" - When he helped his father deliver mail, he would often hear bits and pieces of conversation and gossip. He thinks it's a bit interesting and silly that adults were so willing to share secrets while he's there; he supposes that they think he can't do anything with the information, but he remembers everything to the best of his ability until he can write it down in a journal he often keeps stashed away.
  • items with pockets and hidden compartments to stash things in
  • pocket watches - Ayden knows nobody uses them anymore but he thinks they're cool anyway

Dislikes

  • his mother - He doesn't remember a time she actually did anything for the family
  • complete darkness - It reminds him of the time he tried chasing after his mother
  • giving up
  • indecisive people - "Just weigh your options and make up your mind already."
  • colorful clothes - Standing out just doesn't seem like a good idea to Ayden so his wardrobe mainly consisted of browns and neutral colors. Ava tried to get him to wear oranges and red for fire at least, since he looks ridiculous plain and drab as is.
  • bullies, fights, and violence - Ayden'd much rather avoid the trouble altogether. Besides, with his unreliable parents, he always thought no one would cover for him anyway

Backstory:

Ayden's family is a bit below middle class and sometimes struggles to make ends meet, consisting of his father, his mother, his little sister (2 years younger than Ayden) and himself. His father is a mailman who often makes rounds on foot, personally delivering the various packages and letters to a house's front doorstep if the house owners are not home. A friendly and rather likable man, Ayden's father got along well with neighbors and people he met while delivering mail. Since he was a toddler, Ayden loved to tag along and would help carry letters with his father, every morning before school. It was a happy time, and on his eighth birthday, Ayden received a messenger bag from his father to better help carry the various packages and letters without dropping or loosing them.

His mother was caring, although slightly eccentric. She often took on minimum wage jobs or jobs that were not very demanding for short periods of time before quitting and taking on another. One day she would be a cashier at neighborhood bakery and next next wandering the nearby woods without a care in the world. Sometimes she would be out selling the daily paper at a newsstand and sometimes she's be babysitting at a stranger's residence. As a result, Ayden's mother erratically visited the house was very unreliable when it came to meals and housework, which Ayden and his little sister gradually learned to do themselves. The family assumed that any income she earned was used for her own needs as she only occasionally showed up to room for the night before disappearing to do who knew what.

It wasn't until his school friends found out about his fickle mother that Ayden learned her sometimes-there-but-usually-not habits were out of the norm and he had began to question his mother's lifestyle. After all, sometimes Ayden had to work extra hard to carry packages and letter to neighbors when his father was too weary and tired to, vaguely aware of his father's need for money. Ayden was quite certain about financial business, but he knew his father wouldn't rest easier if his mother was there to help.

-

One day, on the rare night Ayden's mother was home, he followed her as she slipped out, determined to find out where she went- or at least persaude her to help his father out. Little did he know he little sister had awoken and began following him, curious as to what he could be up to. Ayden never noticed and she fell behind was lost, unable to find her way home. It was nearing midnight as he trailed her and he noticed that she was entering a part of town he never ventured to before. With the cold night air, the pervasive darkness that suggested the unknown, and the fear of being lost without a way home, Ayden quickly turned back and, nagivating the dark in the neighborhoods he had often traveled on with his father's delivery rounds, hurried home. As he neared their little home, he heard whimpering in an alley and startled, found his little sister freezing in thin little pajamas and crying for help. Ayden piggybacked her to there home, and upon arrival, piled all the available blankets and pillows near the house heater and wrapped her up to the best of his ability.

The next morning, she had stopped shivering, but Ayden saw that his little sister was running a dangerously high fever. Gathering his meager collection of cash, Ayden left home with his sister swathed in blankets in bed and sought out some medicine. Along the way, he thought back on the previous night, his worry for his sister, his growing distain for his mother who was never home, and mixed pity and sadness for his now often overworked father who would always be scraping by on a minimum wage living. Bottom line was: his parents were unreliable and his sister was in mortal danger. Upon arriving to a local pharmacy, Ayden was told he was too young to purchase any potent medicine and it was far too expensive for him to purchase, so he was sent home with a growing feeling of despair.

He was then spotted by a strange kid who claimed to be a scout, and when conversing, confirmed Ayden's mistrust of adults. Ayden was invited to join what he was told to be a "House of Myth" and was shown a pretty array of little tokens and trinkets. Allowed to take one, Ayden chose an old-looking pocket watch and tunr it in his hand restlessly, wishing his sister would be alright. It felt warm in his hand, but he refrained from tightening his grip, afraid that he would damaged the antique. Telling the scout he would think on the invitation, Ayden hurried home to be by his sister when he heard a strange cooing by his ear and a comforting warmth by his side. He turned his head and saw a strange owl gliding by his slide, feathers tipped with the bright hues of flame. The owl reassured Ayden and encouraged him onwards and they quickened their pace to Ayden's home, no time for him to question it's presence.

Ayden rushed into the house, throwing open doors, and leaning by his sister's bedside. Holding his hand on her forehead, her condition looked no better. The owl, which Ayden now considered a companion, alighted on Ayden's blanket-covered sister and cooed softly. Still holding hand on forehead, Ayden felt his sister's temperature temporarily rise for a minute of two and he looked at the owl with concern. It blinked at him with calm eyes and Ayden felt his sister's temperature gradually fall. She breathed more easily and no longer appeared to be in danger. Looking at the owl, Ayden surmised that it had burned the fever out of his sister and he was happy for it's warmth. Hearing his father begin to awaken, Ayden thought how this whole mess had occured because he followed his mother, because his mother was always leaving and in Ayden's eyes, his father never did anything about it, wasn't even conscious of how sick his daughter had been. These adults no longer deserved his trust and he chose to follow the owl and seek out the House of Myth scout.

SPIRIT

Name: Ava

Gender: Female

Elemental Ability:

  • Fire manipulation -

Weapon / Fighting Style:

  • Talons: If not manipulating fire, Ava can use talons for close combat
  • Wings: When Ayden and Ava do not particularly want to participate in a battle, the sheer force of Ava's wings are enough to deal a fair blow and knock another spirit (of the same level or lower) off balance

Personality:

  • rather small (a little bigger than Ayden's head) and likes to perch on said head.
  • like the other spirits, she can speak, but often chooses not to and prefers to express herself differently
  • active, energetic - Sometimes to the point of irritating when no one has the energy to keep up. She becomes more colorful and bright when she exerts energy, which she enjoys because it covers her boring browns. Ava thinks Ayden should do the same.
  • supportive
  • steady, reliable
  • somewhat showy - no hiding for her!
  • likes to snoop around
  • dislikes actual combat, would much rather be passive support

Other information: Maybe I'll come back to this later??

Roleplay example: I don't even know, let's try something new.

"Aurrghhhhh," Ayden groaned as he streatched his arms out, opening his eyes to a flurry of feathers. Blinking his eyes in drowsy confusion, Ayden saw a tan speckled owl as it tilted it's head inquisitively at him atop his chest. "I'm awake, I'm awake," he muttered, trying to collect his thoughts. Ayden was used to waking up early and didn't mind jumping out of bed before the sun dawned in the sky, but he yesterday tired him out to the point of exhaustion. He had hardly been initiated into what the other kids insisted was the "House of Phoenix" before he was bombarded with a torrent of rules he must follow and duties he must do. He didn't mind, he supposed- their rules weren't particularly restrictive and he still felt the thrill of being on his own.

Suddenly he was lightly bonked on the head with the owl's wings, as if she was reprimanding him. Ana then took flight and landed on the very edge of the bed, beckoning him to get out.

"Yeah, sure" Ayden said, propping himself up into a sitting position, "give me a minute and we'll give ourselves a tour of this place."
